Space Moment

Recently, we had a visit from an astronaut named Colonel Virts. And he gave us a presentation about his work and what its like to be an astronaut. We also got to see what a launch actually looks like from someone on the ground nearby. Turns out its kind of like a flashbang. The closer you are and the bigger the rocket is will impact the blinding light that follows shortly. Its really cool. Also, we got so see an actual rocket. And the rocket ships are  actually huge. These rockets are bigger than the gateway building!

If you wanna find a bit more about him. Here is his website if you want to visit.

Also, here is a picture of Colonel Virts as a child and when he became a pilot.

And to finish it off. Here are some facts about him!

He is a  leader, speaker and author

He spent 6 or 7 months in space. What he did in those months  included: piloting the Space Shuttle; commanding the International Space Station; three spacewalks; and performing scientific experiments, while working closely with multiple international partners.

and for our final fact:  Virts worked with Russian Space Agency cosmonauts during some of the most stressful U.S.-Russian relations since the Cold War.

We loved your presentation, thank you for visiting us Colonel Virts!
